How estimates are built
Each estimate combines state-level data from government sources, industry surveys, and provider pricing into a low, typical, and high range. Home improvement calculators use BLS labor rates, Craftsman material and overhead data, and NAHB permit data. Other calculators use category-specific sources. The model is documented on our methodology page.
Estimates are planning tools, not quotes. We always recommend comparing multiple options before making a decision.
